Two wives of Howrah man fight over property, several injured in clash

A family property dispute in the Ichchhanagari area under Jagatballapur Police Station in Howrah turned violent on Monday, resulting in a physical altercation between two wives and their families. The conflict involved Sheikh Abdul Hafizur Rahman, who is married to two women. Both parties had gathered for a mediation meeting to settle the dispute, but the talks quickly escalated into a fight.

According to sources, the first wife, supported by several individuals, demanded that the property be written solely in her name. This proposal was immediately opposed by the second wife and her family, who insisted that the property should be divided equally between both wives. This disagreement led to a fierce argument, which soon turned into a violent confrontation.

In the heat of the moment, the first wife and her supporters allegedly attacked the home of the second wife. The situation grew chaotic as both sides exchanged blows, leaving several individuals injured. The first wife’s group is reported to have resorted to violence after the mediation failed to settle the issue.

A complaint has since been lodged against the first wife and her accomplices at Jagatballapur Police Station. The police have launched an investigation into the incident and are currently gathering evidence to determine the involvement of all parties in the violence.
